About the Lake

Lake Anna is a beautiful and popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, with plenty of activities and attractions to explore.

Centrally located to Washington DC, Richmond, Charlottesville and Fredericksburg, Lake Anna is a freshwater lake located in Louisa and Spotsylvania counties in Virginia, United States. It covers an area of 13,000 acres and has over 200 miles of shoreline. Contact our friends at the Lake Anna Visitor Center for more specifics.


There are many great options for accommodations around Lake Anna, including vacation rentals, B&Bs, cabins, campgrounds, and hotels.


Lake Anna offers a wide range of activities for visitors, including swimming, boating, fishing, water skiing, wakeboarding, and jet skiing. The lake is also a popular spot for camping, hiking, picnicking, and birdwatching.

The Lake Anna Winery is also home to the Virginia Renaissance Fair each May/June.

Lake Anna hosts several annual events, including the Lake Anna Wine Festival, the Lake Anna Jet Ski Poker Run, and the Lake Anna Beach Bash. These events offer visitors a chance to experience the lake and surrounding area in a fun and unique way.


Lake Anna is known for its excellent fishing, with a variety of fish species including largemouth bass, striped bass, catfish, crappie, and bluegill. Fishing tournaments are held regularly on the lake, and there are several marinas and boat rental services available for visitors.
